On Saturday, September 24th, FivePoint Amphitheatre in Irvine, California was stacked with a lineup that delivered new memories for ska and punk rock fans of all ages! L.A. Celtic punk band, Flogging Molly and L.A. ska punk band, The Interrupters, were near the end of their co-headlining tour as this was the second to the last show of the tour!

L.A. psychobilly band, Tiger Army and The Skints, an English reggae punk band came along for the ride as support. However, Tiger Army did not play the Irvine date and instead, Orange County punk rock legends, The Vandals, tagged along.

The Interrupters released their fourth studio album last month via Epitaph Records titled In The Wild. As expected and anticipated, the band played some songs off the new album such as “In The Mirror”, “Raised By Wolves”, and “Worst For Me”. Some other songs the band played from their discography were “Take Back The Power”, “Title Holder”, “She Got Arrested”, “By My Side”, and “She’s Kerosene”! The energy from fans of The Interrupters transitioned smoothly into Flogging Molly’s set.

Flogging Molly also released an album this year. The band released Anthem via Rise Records earlier this month and they played songs off of it such as "These Times Have Got Me Drinking" / "Tripping Up the Stairs”, "A Song of Liberty", and "The Croppy Boy '98”. Some fan favorites that the band also played were “Drunken Lullabies”, “Selfish Man”, “Devil’s Dance Floor”, and “If I Ever Leave This World Alive”.

The gig felt like a punk rock dream at times. My only complaint about this show is that it wasn’t long enough! It was an absolute party and with new albums from Flogging Molly and The Interrupters, one can only hope that they’ll announce more tour dates.
