The year is 2022 and if you’re like me and have been going to shows since you were a teenager, you most likely have a list of bands that you love that broke up, have gone on hiatus, or hardly ever play. Well, Friday, September 9th was a treat for Something Corporate fans in attendance at House of Blues Anaheim as the band’s former frontman, Andrew McMahon celebrated his 40th birthday!

Emo rockers, The Juliana Theory, kicked off the show and were no strangers to the older fans in the crowd. Playing fan favorites such as “If I Told You This Was Killing Me, Would You Stop?”, “Into The Dark”, and “We’re At The Top Of The World”, they got the crowd energized for the performance that was to come next.

As expected, Andrew McMahon In The Wilderness played songs from the AMITW catalogue such as “Birthday Song”, “Fire Escape”, “Cecilia and the Satellite”, and the latest single, “Stars”. Fans also expected to hear some Jack’s Mannequin songs. Some that Andrew played with his band included “Bruised”, “The Mixed Tape”, “Holiday From Real”, “Swim”, and “Dark Blue”. With the rest of the guys in Something Corporate joining in halfway through the set, the gang played “Konstantine”, “Fall”, “I Woke Up In A Car”, “She Paints Me Blue”, “Straw Dog”, and “Hurricane”! When people in other parts of the country say that Southern California fans are spoiled, you can’t deny it here! Something Corporate formed in Orange County and Andrew has started his other projects in Southern California! I truly did not want it to end and I’m sure others in attendance felt the same way! To have been there with friends that were there for the same reason, makes it extra special.

Who knows when we’ll get another Something Corporate reunion, but for now we can hope that it will happen again! You can keep checking andrewmcmahon.com for updates, new music, and tour dates!
