Recently, pop/rock band, glimmers, released a new single titled “Dreaming” via Common Ground Records! Prior to that, the band released a single titled “Scared To Lose”. In this Q&A, glimmers’ Maggie Schneider (lead vocals/piano) took some time to talk about “Scared To Lose”, her favorite thing about touring, and more!

Congratulations on the release of “Scared To Lose”! What does the song mean to you?
Thank you! We are super excited that "Scared To Lose" is finally in the world. To me, the song is all about being a hopeless romantic. When you're falling for somebody, there's always this nervousness about whether or not they feel the same way. There is this fear that it won't be reciprocated, but at the same time, you don't want to wait too long or miss out on something beautiful. This song shows that struggle but highlights the importance of following your heart.

When looking at “Scared to Lose” and previously released glimmers material, what would you say is different about the music? What’s similar?
"Scared To Lose" has the same 2000s pop/rock vibe that many of our songs have. However, we wanted to experiment with some fun synth elements, as well as more vulnerable lyrics. I was definitely inspired by artists like Michelle Branch and Vanessa Carlton, who write such emotional songs and pair them with really moving instrumentals. I think this song encapsulates where we're going next and is definitely a more mature sound from our previous releases.

What is your favorite thing about touring?
My favorite part about touring is experiencing new cities and meeting so many people that are passionate about music. I think it is so powerful how music can bring people together. It means the world to share my love of music with people who feel the same way. My goal as an artist is to inspire others to follow their dreams, and it means a lot to me when listeners share their personal stories with me. These connections are what make touring so special.

What instrument do you not play that you hope to learn someday?
I would LOVE to play cello. I've always loved how orchestral instruments sound and how they make me feel.

We all have our days where it may not be going as well as we’d like. People deal with their worst days in different ways. What helps you get through the bad days? How do you stay positive?
Music definitely gets me through the days. Playing piano has always been therapeutic for me and writing songs gives me an outlet to express how I feel. My friends and family always get me through tough times as well. I'm an optimist, and I believe that everything happens for a reason. I know that no matter what, my support system will get me through the bad days. I'm thankful that I have such wonderful people around me!

Thank you for taking the time for this Q&A. Any last words or final message for the readers?
Be yourself, love yourself, and follow your dreams no matter what. We hope to see you at a glimmers show one day!
