Congratulations on the release of “Old Shoes”! What does the song mean to you?
Thank you so much! “Old Shoes” was one of those songs for me that sort of wrote itself. I had been faced with a lot of change at the beginning of the year and it came to a point where I realized I was trying to run away from it instead of embracing the new chapter. I was trying so hard to keep my life the same because I was scared and writing “Old Shoes” really helped me understand that change doesn’t need to be a scary thing and that it only helps us grow into stronger people. So this song means a lot to me! And the fact that it is my first release is also so special.

You’re currently attending Berklee College of Music. When did you decide you wanted to pursue music as a major/career?
Music was always something I knew I wanted to pursue but it wasn’t until my Junior year of high school that I actually made the decision to commit to pursuing it in college. I was trying to convince myself that maybe I should do something more “practical” but at the end of the day music is what I want to do for the rest of my life so I finally believed in myself enough to apply to music schools for college.

What is one artist or band that you haven’t seen in concert, that you hope to see someday?
I would love to see Adele! She was a huge inspiration to me growing up and hearing her voice live would be amazing. The way she commands the room with her voice is incredible.

What's the best piece of advice another musician ever gave you?
One piece of advice I heard at a music camp I went to in high school that has stuck with me, is that comparison is the thief of joy. Which is so true! Especially going to music school and seeing what everyone is doing on social media it is easy to compare where you are in your career with what your peers are doing. But I have to remind myself that there is nobody out there like me and to believe in my strengths as an artist! Everyone is on their own timeline so I just remind myself to keep working hard and things will all play out the way they’re supposed to.

We all have our days where it may not be going as well as we’d like. People deal with their worst days in different ways. What helps you get through the bad days? How do you stay positive?
When I’m having a bad day I try my best to take time for myself. If I know I’m having an off day I take time to listen to music, read, write, go on a walk, and whatever I know will help boost my mood. Even on bad days I try to have a positive mindset and remind myself whatever I’m feeling is only temporary.

Thank you for taking the time for this Q&A. Any last words or final message for the readers?
